John Wall scored 22 points, Nene added 21 and the Washington Wizards fought off the Detroit Pistons, 99-95, at the Verizon Center Saturday night after blowing all of a 21-point lead. The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Wizards.

Washington got off to a terrific start in this one, taking a 37-27 lead after the first quarter. It was the most points the Wizards had scored in a first quarter all season.

By halftime, Washington had taken a 60-44 lead, and it looked like it was well on its way to ending its recent slide.

That possibility only strengthened early in the third quarter, when the Wizards used a 7-0 run to jump out to a 69-48 lead.

However, the Pistons were relentless.

Behind spectacular play from Greg Monroe and Spencer Dinwiddie, Detroit battled back and took the lead late in the fourth quarter in front of a stunned crowd.

Washington was forced to grind it out down the stretch, with Nene and Wall both making big buckets to put the Wizards up 96-91 with 1:02 remaining.

Still, it took two free throws from Wall with 7.3 seconds left to put Washington up 99-95 and finally ice the game ...
