Derrick Rose’s Accuser Files Appeal: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

The ex-girlfriend of Derrick Rose filed an appeal with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday, a month after a judge cleared the New York Knicks guard and two of his friends, whom she accused of rape, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com).

On Oct. 19, Julia Marsh of the New York Post reported Rose and his co-defendants were cleared of all charges in the civil lawsuit in Los Angeles, but the AP noted the appeal "says pertinent evidence was excluded and jury instructions were tainted."

According to the AP, Rose's ex-girlfriend—identified as Jane Doe—was seeking $21.5 million in the initial suit, which stated the men gang-raped her while she was incapacitated and unable to consent to sex.

After the verdict, Doe's lawyer said they were thinking about an appeal, per Marsh.

The Athletic's Jon Greenberg reported two jurors in the case didn't think Doe was credible and that they didn't think there was enough evidence to corroborate the allegations.
