Derrick Rose Comments on How Lawsuit Accusing Him of Rape Impacted Public Image

Nearly one month after Derrick Rose was cleared of wrongdoing in a civil lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, the New York Knicks point guard commented on how it has affected his reputation.

According to Julia Marsh of the New York Post, Rose called his former girlfriend's rape allegations a "fake case" and said the trial has taken an "irreparable toll on [his] public image."

Rose's ex-girlfriend alleged that the former NBA MVP and two of his friends gang raped her while she was drunk in 2013, but Rose and two other men were found not liable in the $21.5 million case on Oct. 19, per Marsh. 

Following the resolution of the trial, Rose commented on whether he felt vindicated, according to ESPN.com's Ohm Youngmisuk:

A little bit. But at the same time, there was another person that was involved in this. So, if anything, I've just been praying for myself and praying for her because the issue is very big in the States and everywhere. So just praying for everyone that was involved and knowing that all this is out of my control.
