Deron Williams: Most Likely Landing Spots

May 22nd, 2012 by Ethan Sherwood Strauss Leave a reply »
Deron Williams is a bit aloof, a bit unknowable. It's hard to guess at where he'll go in free agency because of this.

Obviously, the Dallas Mavericks are the front-runners. Williams is from Texas, Mark Cuban is interested, and a Deron-Dirk high screen and roll would be among the most beautiful plays in basketball. This is the No. 1 spot.

The Indiana Pacers would be a sneaky-good choice, what with their cap room and already-competitive core. Many believe that Indiana will make a run at Eric Gordon, but why not Williams instead? If Deron doesn't discriminate against a cold, small market, this would be an excellent fit.

Boston would be an intriguing choice, provided Williams wants to play with Rajon Rondo. While D-Will is a point guard as well, positions can be vague. Williams has two-guard size and Boston has plenty of extra cash next summer.
