Deron Williams Injury: Updates on Mavericks Guard’s Hip and Return

Dallas Mavericks point guard Deron Williams suffered a hip injury Monday against the Atlanta Hawks. It is uncertain when he will return.

Williams Ruled Out for Remainder of Monday's Game Monday, Feb. 1 Williams played eight minutes and failed to score, and Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram confirmed the point guard would not return to the game with a hip contusion. 

Williams has taken on a key role during his first season in Dallas. He ranks highly on the team in both points (14.2) and minutes (32.5) per game, as of Monday, while also orchestrating the offense from the point. It's led to periodic flashes of the high-impact player he was in years past.

Injuries have slowed him down at times, though, the most notable being a lingering hamstring issue that first popped up during the preseason. That doesn't come as a major surprise, however, as he's only appeared in all 82 games once in his 11-year career.
