DeMarcus Cousins Injury: Updates on Kings Star’s Ankle, Likely Return Date

Somewhat out of the blue, Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins was held out of Tuesday night's game with an ankle injury.

The team's television announcer, Grant Napear, has the news: 

No DMC tonight. .out with an ankle injury

— Grant Napear (@GrantNapearshow) December 4, 2013 This is certainly surprising because Boogie has played in all 15 of Sacramento's games thus far, and there was never any talk of an injury. He played just 21 minutes during Sunday's loss to the Golden State Warriors, but that was due to foul trouble. 

Cousins, who signed a four-year maximum contract extension in the offseason, has taken another step toward establishing himself as one of the premier big men in the league. 

He still shows flashes of immaturity and a temper, but those instances have been fewer and further between this year, as he has averaged 21.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per contest. 

The severity of this injury is unknown, and Kings fans will have to hold their breath when it comes to their franchise player in the meantime.
