Darrell Arthur Suspended 1 Game for Flagrant Foul Against Dion Waiters

Darrell Arthur's flagrant foul on Dion Waiters on Friday night came with a heavy cost.

The NBA announced on Saturday that the Denver Nuggets power forward will be suspended for one game after his shove of the Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard:

Denver Nuggets forward Darrell Arthur has been suspended one game without pay for shoving Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters in the back as he elevated for a layup, it was announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.

News of the suspension doesn't elicit much surprise. Most expected Arthur would receive some sort of additional punishment. Stu Jackson, the NBA's former executive vice president, felt that the foul warranted more than Arthur's ejection after the game:



Waiters, however, argued against Arthur receiving any sort of suspension, per ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin:



Arthur is averaging five points, three rebounds and 1.4 assists in 12.8 minutes on the floor for Denver.
