San Antonio Spurs swingman Danny Green suffered a quad injury just days before the start of the 2016-17 season.

Latest on Green's Status Friday, Oct. 21 The Spurs announced on Friday that Green was diagnosed with a left quad strain and could miss up to three weeks.

He suffered the injury during a Tuesday intra-squad scrimmage, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

Green used a healthy and robust 2014-15 campaign to snag a four-year, $40 million contract from the Spurs two summers ago, but his effectiveness waned throughout the 2015-16 season.

In 79 games a year ago, Green averaged just 7.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest while shooting a career-worst 37.6 percent from three-point range. Green's three-point conversion rate of 33.2 percent was also the worst mark he's posted since his rookie season.

With that said, he's still a valuable floor-spacing element for a Spurs offense that needs all of its key players clicking if it wants to have any shot at dethroning the Golden State Warriors as the Western Conference champions.
