Damian Lillard Injury: Updates on Trail Blazers Star’s Foot and Return

Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard is suffering from plantar fasciitis in his left foot and it has forced him out of the lineup. It is uncertain when he will be able to return.

Lillard Out vs. Hawks Monday, Dec. 21 Joe Freeman of the Oregonian noted Lillard will sit against Atlanta, which he noted will be the first missed game of his career, ending a streak of 275 straight starts for Portland.

Lillard Has Become Face of the Franchise for Blazers Lillard, 25, has emerged as one of the NBA's best guards in his four seasons in the NBA. After averaging 21.0 points, 6.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds during the 2014-15 season, Lillard is leading the Trail Blazers in points (24.6) and assists (6.8) per game this season.

He's had to take on an even bigger role offensively after LaMarcus Aldridge signed with the San Antonio Spurs this offseason. While C.J. McCollum, Al-Farouq Aminu and Mason Plumlee have all played well for the team, there's little doubt that the Blazers will only go as far as Lillard can take them.
