Dear Diary,
 
I Learned today that point-guard Jason Kidd is going to the All-Star Game.   He was picked to replace injured Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant.  That saves Dallas the embarrassment of being a host city with only one player on the team.
 
I also watched the opening ceremonies to the Winter Olympic Games tonight.  Fantastic show, a tribute to Canada's rich and diverse culture.
 
Dirk Nowitzki's buddy Steve Nash one-upped him tonight.  He was one of four notable Canadians that simultaneously lit the Olympic cauldron...WOW!

Dear Diary,
 
I read some news today that was like an over-due doze of anti-depressant:  The Mavericks are going to make a huge deal before the Feb. 18 trade dead line.
 
Their partner in this trade is the "needing to rebuild" Washington Wizards.  The disaster with Gilbert Arenas left the Wizards badly in need of cap relief, since the team has to show the suspended Arenas' salary on their books. 

The Mavericks made the Wizards a deal neither team could refuse, and possibly resuscitated their critically-ill season.
