Dallas Mavericks: Champs Can Make Huge Statement Against Lakers

Questions will be answered one way or another on Sunday.

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers face off for the fourth time this year on Sunday when the defending NBA Champions head to Staples Center, in perhaps what could be the biggest game of the year thus far for both teams' positioning in the playoffs.

Currently, the Lakers hold the No. 3 seed with a one-game lead over their Staples Center neighbors, the Los Angeles Clippers. The Mavs hold a 1.5-game lead over the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets for the No. 6 seed, and trail the Memphis Grizzlies by one game for the five spot.

Oh, how I love potential playoff matchups late in the season.

And how ironic would it be if the Lakers could sweep the season series against the team that swept them out of the postseason last year?

But that's what we love about the game of basketball. And as it would seem, the Mavs are loving the way they're playing basketball right now, currently on a three-game winning streak that's began since Lamar Odom was sent home for the rest of the year.
