Coach K Says Thanks But No Thanks To The Nets Coaching Job

Duke Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski has decided not to move on to the NBA and take up the job of New Jersey Nets head coach.

The Nets' Russian billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov decided to make an attempt at reeling in one of the NCAA's winningest coaches. Prokhorov reportedly has offered the head coaching job to Coach K with a salary that would make him the highest paid NBA coach.

Coach K tops the list of people that Prokhorov would like to bring to the organization once the NBA approves of his purchase of the team from Bruce Ratner. LeBron James is also at the top of that list.

Prokhorov is hoping that his team led by LeBron James and Chris Bosh will eventually win an NBA championship. Add the possibility of a No. 1 draft pick like John Wall or Evan Turner and the team is destined for greatness. The only spot that needs help is the coaching spot.

That is where Coach Krzyzewski comes in. 

Phil Jackson is currently the highest paid NBA coach with a salary of $12 million a year. Prokhorov is willing to offer Krzyzewski $12 million to $15 million.
