Cavaliers 90, Knicks 84—Final

LeBron James tied a season-high mark with 31 points, and the Cleveland Cavaliers edged the New York Knicks 90-84 Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

After trailing 53-46 entering halftime, Cleveland (8-1) outscored the Knicks 44-31 throughout the latter frames. James, who also dished six assists, limited Carmelo Anthony to just four points following an explosive 22-point first half.

Mo Williams recorded the final six Cavaliers points, hitting the go-ahead jumper with 41 seconds remaining and connecting on four free throws to wrap up the win. He tallied 20 points and three assists.

Anthony finished with a team-best 26 points, but New York's offense stagnated down the stretch. The Knicks missed six of their seven shots during the final four minutes of regulation.

Rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis managed 11 points and seven rebounds, while Arron Afflalo netted 14 points in his home debut for New York.
