Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul can become a free agent at the conclusion of the season, and a massive deal will likely be needed to keep him in L.A.

Latest on Paul's Contract Status Thursday, Dec. 1 According to ESPN.com's Zach Lowe, it is expected that CP3 will demand a full, five-year max contract to remain with the Clips.

Per Spotrac, there is an early-termination clause in Paul's contract that will allow him to hit the open market during the offseason if he and the Clippers don't strike a deal before then.

The 31-year-old veteran is in the midst of another strong season with per-game averages of 17.9 points, 8.8 assists and 5.2 rebounds.



While those numbers qualify him as an elite point guard, they are slightly down from his statistical output in the scoring and assists departments in comparison to the past three years.

The nine-time All-Star is a huge reason for L.A.'s 14-5 start, although the team has struggled of late, as evidenced by a three-game losing streak.
