Chris Paul: Clippers Star Set to Make Preseason Debut Sunday

Los Angeles Clippers star point guard Chris Paul is set to make his 2012 preseason debut on Sunday vs. fellow United States Olympic teammate LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

The news comes from Eric Patten of the Clippers' official team website:

Paul, who was medically cleared for full contact three days ago, is expected to make his preseason debut Sunday, Oct. 14 when the Clippers take on the Miami Heat at Mercedes-Benz Arena in the second matchup of the 2012 NBA China Games

Paul had surgery on his thumb over the offseason after injuring it during a Team USA practice this summer. The injury clearly didn't stop Paul from playing a key role for the Americans down the stretch of the 2012 London Olympics, as they won gold for the second time in four years. 

The 27-year-old floor general should be 100 percent by the time he tips off his second full season with the Clippers on Halloween night against the Memphis Grizzlies. 

Paul averaged 19.8 points and 9.1 assists per game last season with the Clippers, but will have to learn to work with some new pieces in 2012-13, including Jamal Crawford, Grant Hill and Lamar Odom. Pau ...
