Chris Bosh Comments on Calf Injury, Missing 2016 NBA All-Star Game

Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh played it safe when it came to his decision to pull out of Sunday's NBA All-Star Game due to a calf injury.

He said he felt good leading up to the weekend, but in the end he was certain sitting out was the best option, per Kurt Helin of

Yesterday I was upbeat, but it just kind of lingered. I tried to treat it and all these things, but it’s just one of those funny things where if you feel like it’s not really turning a corner, you know calves can turn into really major, major problems. Any other circumstance, I’d try to push through it, but it just didn’t make any sense to do it.

It was obvious Bosh tried to do all he could to play in the game, as he waited until Friday to make the decision, but in the end, staying healthy for the regular season—and his future in general—won out. He missed 38 games last season while suffering from blood clots in his lungs, which originally stemmed from blood clots in his leg.

The 31-year-old doesn't feel like this is a repeat of that, per Helin:
