Chris Andersen Illness: Updates on Heat Forward’s Status and Return

The Miami Heat will be without Chris Andersen for at least one game, as the power forward recovers from an illness.

Andersen was on the Heat's official inactive list for Saturday's game against Atlanta:

Per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Andersen is at the American Airlines Arena but was fighting an illness:

The Heat are hurting for size right now. Andersen, while not a scorer, ranks fourth on the team in rebounds per game with 4.9. Considering the lack of depth Erik Spoelstra's team already had, losing Birdman for even one night against the best team in the Eastern Conference leaves them in an even more vulnerable position.

One silver lining is the Heat have been one of the league's strongest defensive teams this season, with Andersen missing 16 of their first 57 games, so they can survive a short absence from the veteran power forward in the soft Eastern Conference.
