Check My Watch: Why the Sixers Need To Bring Back Iverson

As a follow-up to my article from a few days ago debating whether or not retirement would be Iverson's final "Answer," I decided to quickly go over the reasons why the 76ers would be wise to bring A.I. back to Philly. While he has accumulated many detractors over the years and has already gone through one acrimonious divorce with the organization, I believe that if he agreed to return to the City of Brotherly Love, the Sixers would be foolish not to have him. Here's why:

1. Iverson Sells Tickets

I list this reason first because it is the most urgent and most important reason. Even though a recent ESPN Sports poll ranks the 76ers as the 8th most popular team in the NBA (down from 4th in 2004), they rank a putrid 28th in the league in total attendance so far this year (29th in average attendance) and have finished 23rd each year since trading Iverson to Denver early in the 2006-07 season.
