Attention Paul Pierce: Tebowing was soooooo four months ago.

In the fourth quarter of the Boston Celtics' 87-80 victory over the Atlanta Hawks to even up their best-of-seven series at one game a piece, Pierce decided to be the latest athlete to tribute polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow.

With 1:15 to go, Pierce drilled two free throws to put his team up seven points, essentially sealing the game. Pierce took this joyous occasion to backpedal to half court and bend down on one knee, “Tebowing” over the Hawks' logo.

It was textbook form until he inexplicably grabbed his thigh with his left hand. I’ll give him a pass, though, as Pierce became the first NBA player to perform the “Tebowing” phenomenon.

After watching other NFL players, soccer stars and skiers perform the action, finally the NBA has hopped on board as well. Next up is the walk-off home run with the hitter “Tebowing” at home plate.

Pierce deserved to celebrate. He scored 36 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and added four assists as the savior for a Celtics team that was missing the suspended Rajon Rondo. Now the Celtics have stol ...
