Carmelo Anthony Denies Report He Blocked Trade Involving Celtics, Cavaliers

Carmelo Anthony was one of a few marquee names thrown around as potential trade chips near the deadline, but the New York Knicks star firmly denied Wednesday he blocked any potential deal.

"No. Heck no," Anthony responded when asked whether the Knicks front office approached him about a possible trade, per Frank Isola and Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

He seemingly referenced the speculation about his future in a cryptic tweet sent Thursday:   



Isola reported on Feb. 13 that the Knicks, Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers were discussing a possible trade that would've sent Anthony to Cleveland and Kevin Love to Boston. According to ESPN.com's Ian Begley, the Celtics also signaled an interest in acquiring Melo themselves.

In an interview with SiriusXM Radio earlier in the month (via Bondy), Anthony reaffirmed his commitment to his current team: "I don't want to run. I could have ran somewhere when I was a free agent. I came back for a reason. I came back because I want to be here."
