Can Deron Williams and Joe Johnson Lead the Nets to a Title?

There was no reporter necessary. Deron Williams announced via Twitter on Tuesday his intention to re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets, thus quelling the Nets' fears and sending the Dallas Mavericks rifling through their long list of far-less-palatable alternatives.

But the re-signing of such a significant free agent naturally calls the franchise he chose to sign with to the forefront; Williams gave up a chance to play alongside Dirk Nowitzki for the Nets' offer of more money and a more balanced lineup.

Williams may not have an all-world scorer as his teammate, but he'll play alongside two quality wings in Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace, as well as a possibly re-signed Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries—not to mention the newly acquired Mirza Teletovic, or rumored target Ersan Ilyasova, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, via Twitter.

There are still a lot of pieces in play for the Nets, but with Williams, Johnson and Wallace as certain Nets, can Brooklyn reasonably be considered a title contender this season?
