Cameron Payne Injury: Updates on Thunder Guard’s Concussion and Return

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie point guard Cameron Payne suffered a concussion against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second quarter of Wednesday night's game. It is unclear when he will be able to return to the court.

Payne Suffers Head Injury vs. Timberwolves Wednesday, Jan. 27 Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune reported Payne was ruled out after experiencing concussion-like symptoms.

Seeking depth at guard, the Thunder made Payne the 14th overall pick in June's draft. NBA.com praised the former Murray State star for his ability to shoot from three-point range and defend.

Payne's shooting touch was evident early in his career, though he has been used sparingly, playing behind Russell Westbrook and D.J. Augustin. 

After playing most of the 2014-15 season without superstar Kevin Durant—and also losing Serge Ibaka and Russell Westbrook for a combined 33 games—the Thunder know how important having depth on the bench can be.
