Bucks Lose Brandon Jennings For 4-6 Weeks, Broken Foot

December 20th, 2010 by Zach Herring Leave a reply »

The Bucks announced today that starting point guard Brandon Jennings will be out 4-6 weeks and had surgery today to repair a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his left foot. Losing Jennings is obviously a big loss, especially since Carlos Delfino is also not back yet. The Bucks will likely turn to Keyon Dooling as the new starting point guard.

There have been a few rumors going around that the Bucks might consider trading Ersan Ilyasova for a backup point guard or that they might cut Skinner to sign a veteran. When John Hammond, Bucks GM, was asked about Jennings injury he said, “”I don’t think anyone is going to question his competitive spirit!” Jennings played through the injury against the Jazz after going down in the game against the Spurs.

Jennings had started every game since last season, a string of 107 regular season games and seven in the postseason. He’d been averaging 17.9 points per game and 5.5 assists in 25 games this year.

There is no doubt that losing Jennings is huge. Every player on the Bucks will need to step it up if the team is going to stay on track. At 10-15 the Bucks are not looking at making the playoffs as of now.

The Bucks start a three game road trip, playing the first tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers.
