Boston Celtics Watch: Kevin Garnett Leaves Game with Knee Injury

December 29th, 2010 by Mike Mehta Leave a reply »
Kevin Garnett left the game against the Detroit Pistons late in the first quarter tonight with an apparent right knee injury.

Garnett took a pass from Ray Allen for a slam dunk, and appeared to land cleanly.  He limped towards half court though and went to his knees screaming in pain.

Garnett left the court on his own power and was seen walking on his own will.  No word yet on the injury's severity, but he has been sent for X-rays and will not return to the game.

The Celtics will rely on Center-Forwards Glen Davis and Jermaine O'Neal to carry the load in Garnett's absence.

Garnett injured his right knee two seasons ago in a game against the Utah Jazz in February 2009.

*Update:  The X-rays show no fractures and KG will be further evaluated when the team returns to Boston.
