Thanks in part to a big homecoming performance from Dwyane Wade, the Chicago Bulls opened their 2016-17 campaign with a 105-99 win over the Boston Celtics on Thursday at the United Center.

Jimmy Butler led the way for the Bulls, scoring 24 points and grabbing seven boards. Wade went for 22 points, six rebounds and five assists. After hitting seven threes all of last season, he went 4-of-6 Thursday.

Boston, meanwhile, was led by Isaiah Thomas, who scored 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Avery Bradley added 16 points and five assists.

The Celtics' road trip will continue Saturday with a 7 p.m. game against the Charlotte Hornets. The Bulls will take on the Indiana Pacers in Chicago on Saturday at 8 p.m.
