Kelly Olynyk had 18 points and 11 rebounds, including a huge offensive rebound with 24 seconds remaining, and the short-handed Boston Celtics fended off the Chicago Bulls, 106-101, at the United Center Saturday night.

The Celtics, who were playing without Rajon Rondo and Marcus Smart, led by as much as 19 in the second half, but the Bulls, who were once again without Derrick Rose, stormed back late thanks to the hot hand of Aaron Brooks.

Brooks scored 19 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, bringing Chicago to within two with under a minute to go.

With Boston up 100-98 with 24 seconds remaining, Olynyk rebounded a missed layup by Evan Turner, forcing the Bulls to foul. Turner, who led the Celtics with 19 points, went to the line and sank two free throws, and the C's were able to hold on.

The Celtics shot 52 percent from the floor, making seven of their 19 three-point tries. They also went 15-of-20 from free-throw line, as opposed to Chicago who made only nine of its 15 free-throw attempts.
