Bob Myers Promoted to Warriors’ President of Basketball Operations

The Golden State Warriors announced a restructuring of their front office on Tuesday, with general manager Bob Myers also taking over the role of president of basketball operations.

Travis Schlenk was promoted to vice president of basketball operations/assistant general manager. Kirk Lacob will take over as vice president of GSW Sports Ventures/assistant general manager, while Larry Harris will serve as assistant general manager/director of player personnel.

Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News reported that the promotion also contains a contract extension and substantial raise.

Myers, 41, has been the Warriors general manager since 2012. He has been instrumental in building the team's current core, including stealing Draymond Green in the 2012 draft and trading for Andre Iguodala. It was Myers' move to replace Mark Jackson with Steve Kerr as head coach, which helped spearhead Golden State to consecutive NBA Finals appearances.

Of course, there was also the great caper of 2016, which saw Myers and a contingent of Warriors players shockingly convince Kevin Durant to sign in the Bay Area.
