Blazers Need to Release Greg Oden, Draft Hassan Whiteside

Greg Oden's career has been injury-filled. He was taken No. 1 over Kevin Durant in 2007.

Oden had all of the promise to be the next great NBA big man, but never lived up to the hype.

If Oden gets hurt in 2011, look for the Portland Trail Blazers to cut him. They will draft a center in this year's draft.

I think Oden could be trade bait in the upcoming draft.

Portland has been targeting Cole Aldrich and Hassan Whiteside.

I expect Aldrich to be gone before the top 10 picks are over. Whiteside, on the other hand, could slip all the way down to Portland.

If Whiteside were to take a freefall in the NBA draft all the way to the high 10's early 20's, look for Portland to trade up.

Whiteside led Marshall with six blocks per game and can score. He is the one prospect that could be the best—if you develop him.

I think Whiteside would be an immediate upgrade over Oden. 

Oden is considered one of the biggest busts in NBA history. The last great big man in Portland was Bill Walton.

Obviously, Oden hasn't lived up to that.
