Blake Griffin: The Clipper Rookie Is Officially An NBA All-Star

Blake Griffin has already unofficially become the star of the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend.

He has already been selected as the headliner for the NBA Dunk Contest.

He will be the best player on the court when he plays in the NBA Rookie vs. Sophomore Challenge, which pits this year's draft class against last year's.

And now he has officially been selected as an all-star for the Western Conference team. 

Highlights and dunks are certainly part of the equation that factors into an all-star selection, but this wasn't a fan vote.

The Western Conference coaches selected the team, as is customary.  This means that it wasn't just fancy plays or SportsCenter's Top 10 that got him on the team.

NBA coaches are obviously some of the most knowledgeable basketball minds in the world.

The fact that they used their votes to sift through a talent-packed Western Conference, especially at the forward position, to select Griffin speaks volumes.
