It has been a surprisingly good season for rivalries in the NBA.

With some recently downtrodden franchises making big waves, there are old rivalries being renewed on a weekly basis in the league.

Parity in the league seems to be growing, as teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics have fallen while the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors are a couple of major surprises.

Divisional rivalries are being renewed, especially in the stacked Atlantic and LA-heavy Pacific. In the Atlantic particularly, there have already been numerous fights and suspensions coming out of divisional games.

Attitudes are at fever pitch as older teams are fighting to stay relevant against their proposed successors. After a whirlwind of a 2011-12 season, due to the lockout, this season is allowing for the dog days of mid-season when tempers flare and frustrations air.

All of this is making for some fantastic theatre. So, where should you be looking to see some real heated and hated contests this winter?
