Former NBA All-Star point guard Baron Davis is attempting a comeback, but he won't be headed straight to the Association upon his return.

Davis Intends to Go to D-League Tuesday, Jan. 12 Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports provided the update on Davis' future plans to go to the NBA Development League, citing the veteran floor general's agent, Todd Ramasar, as the source.    

Davis will evidently have to prove himself a step below the NBA before he gets a chance to suit up at the highest level again. The 36-year-old last played for the New York Knicks in 2012.

ESPN's Jared Zwerling had lunch with Davis this past August and reported the latter was serious about an NBA comeback. At the time, Davis indicated he felt he could play approximately 20 minutes per contest.

Davis was chosen third overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1999 NBA draft but made his biggest splash following his third season with the Golden State Warriors.
