Austin Rivers Injury: Updates on Clippers Guard’s Possible Concussion and Return

The Los Angeles Clippers will be without some depth at guard after Austin Rivers suffered an apparent head injury during Saturday night's game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Latest on Rivers' Status Sunday, Dec. 11 According to the Orange County Register's Dan Woike, Rivers "took an accidental left elbow from Terrance Jones and stayed on the ground for a bit."

The Clippers later said Rivers was being "evaluated" and announced he had been ruled out for the remainder of the game, per Woike.



Rivers suffered a nasty cut above his left eye in Game 6 of the Clippers' first-round playoff loss against the Portland Trail Blazers after colliding with Al-Farouq Aminu last year, though it didn't cost him any games.

The former Duke star hasn't been the most durable player, reaching 69 games only twice in four seasons, though the Clippers have found ways to maximize his talent off the bench. He averaged a career-high 8.9 points per game and shot a career-best 43.8 percent from the field in 2015-16.
