Austin Daye to Hawks: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction

In an effort to add some depth to their already strong squad, the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Hawks are set to sign forward Austin Daye from the NBA Development League.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Hawks will pluck the 26-year-old veteran from the Erie BayHawks roster:



Per Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Daye will be signed to a 10-day contract as well:



Daye was a first-round selection by the Detroit Pistons in the 2009 NBA draft out of Gonzaga. Big things were expected out of him due to his size and athleticism, but he has never lived up to his potential.

He was part of the San Antonio Spurs' championship team last year, though, and he appeared in 26 games for the Spurs this year before getting waived.

Daye has resurrected his career in the D-League, with averages of 16 points, seven rebounds and one block per game in 10 contests.
