Austin Daye Doesn’t Know Where Memphis Is: "Good to Be on the West Coast"

On January 30, 2013, the Memphis Grizzlies traded franchise player Rudy Gay for Ed Davis, Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye. The idea of the trade was to create financial relief and find players that are better fit for the team.

Daye can start to prove his worth by catching up on his geography.

According to Geoff Calkins of The Commercial Appeal, Daye stated that he is pleased to be in Memphis. It certainly helps that his Grizzlies debut came with a win over the Washington Wizards.

It hurts to know that Daye isn't certain as to where he is.

"It's good to be on the West Coast and also in a city like Memphis," [Austin Daye] said.

Not quite.

For those who didn't know, the city of Memphis is located in the Southwestern corner of Tennessee. The state of Tennessee is located in the Southeastern region of the United States.

Nearly 1800 miles away from Daye's hometown of Irvine, California. A city that is located on the West Coast.
