On Friday, NBA Primetime reported that Jamal Crawford could part ways with the Atlanta Hawks if the club decides not to give the sharp-shooter an extension.
Crawford, who is entering the final year of his contract, will make $10 million during the upcoming season.
According to ESPN, Crawford approached the Hawks during the first few days of July about an extension. Since the organization has yet to make an offer, sources have said that Crawford would like to be traded if the team decides not to propose the extension.
After averaging 18 PPG last season, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year undoubtedly deserves an extension—something many final year contract players have sought out for this offseason—with the current CBA set to expire following the upcoming season.
Unfortunately, the Hawks have Al Horford, who is eligible for an extension on his rookie contract.
According to Sekou Smith of NBA.com, "...sources have said that Horford will receive a near-max extension offer before the Oct. 31 deadline."
