Atlanta Hawks Sweep Three-Game Homestand; Maurice Evans MVP

The Atlanta Hawks (19-6) are riding high and are winners of six in-a-row after another comfortable win, this time against the Utah Jazz.

Last night’s 96-83 win over Utah wrapped up the three-game homestand sweep, which began last Sunday with a blowout win over the decimated New Jersey Nets.

Game three against the Jazz last night also came with some exciting news.

The Boston Celtics finally lost. The Philadelphia 76ers’ Elton Brand had a last second tip-in to edge the Celtics in Boston, 98-97.

For the Celtics, it marked the end to their 11-game win streak, and for the Hawks, the loss puts them just a game back of Boston for first place overall in the Eastern Conference.

During the three-game homestand, Maurice Evans played huge for the Hawks. He got his first start of the season against the Nets, filling in for a flu-stricken Marvin Williams.
