With Friday's 103-93 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Atlanta Hawks set a new franchise record by winning a 15th consecutive game, per ESPN Stats & Info.
According to basketball-reference.com's play index, the old record of 14 straight wins was set back in 1993-94, a season best remembered in Hawks lore for the team's decision to trade franchise icon Dominique Wilkins to the Los Angeles Clippers for Danny Manning.
This year's team is unlikely to have a similar shake-up, as the Hawks own a 36-8 record that puts them 6.5 games ahead of the Washington Wizards for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
On pace for 67 victories, the Hawks have a good chance to best the single-season franchise record of 57, which was set in 1986-87 and matched in 1993-94.
After going 38-44 last season, Atlanta figures to eclipse its 2013-14 win total prior to the All-Star Game, as the team still has 10 games left to play before the break.
Of course, as remarkable as they have been this season, the Hawks still don't own the NBA's best record, with that honor going to the 35-6 Golden State Warriors out west.
