Arron Afflalo Fined $15K for Excessive Contact Against Jazz’s Alec Burks

The NBA has reportedly fined Denver Nuggets guard Arron Afflalo for his flagrant foul on Utah Jazz guard Alec Burks during Monday's game.    

According to Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post, Afflalo was handed a $15,000 fine due to a hit above the shoulders on Burks:



Dempsey also noted that the NBA won't suspend Afflalo and that he will be allowed to play in Denver's next game against Portland Tuesday night:  



The play occurred during the fourth quarter with Denver up 90-86. Burks took a fast-break pass from Gordon Hayward and attempted to go for a layup. Afflalo appeared to be going for the block but instead made contact with Burks' head, which dropped him hard to the floor. 

Officials reviewed the play and assessed Afflalo a flagrant-2 foul that resulted in an immediate ejection. After the game, Afflalo told Dempsey that he was just trying to go for a block:
