Andrea Bargnani Illness: Updates on Nets C’s Status and Return

Bargnani Out vs. Knicks Friday, Feb. 19 Devin Kharpertian of TheBrooklynGame.com passed along the update regarding Bargnani's status, noting the big man will not play in Friday's game against the New York Knicks.

In the midst of a disappointing season after signing a two-year, $2.9 million deal with the Nets in the summer, per Spotrac, Bargnani is averaging just 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from three-point range.

Although he possesses a player option for next season, Bargnani's days in Brooklyn may be numbered. Prior to Thursday's NBA trade deadline, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Bargnani is part of a group of players who will "almost assuredly" have their contracts bought out.

On Friday, the Boston Celtics announced that they waived David Lee, one of the players Wojnarowski listed in the group.
