Amar’e Stoudemire: Latest News, Rumors, Speculation on Free-Agent Veteran

Amar'e Stoudemire did not have a stellar return to form with the Miami Heat last season, leaving his future this summer as a free agent unclear.

Stoudemire Talks Potential New York Return Saturday, July 2 Speaking to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, Stoudemire brought up the possibility of going back to the New York Knicks: "I think New York is a team that needs a [center] or another big. If they want to bring me back, that would be a nice opportunity for me."   

Stoudemire also said what he's "looking for is a team that has a chance to win a championship," and he wants "to be in a position that is going to allow me to be myself once again."

The former scenario doesn't describe the Knicks, though they are certainly working hard to become more interesting with the acquisition of Derrick Rose and, per ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, a reported agreement with Joakim Noah. 

The Knicks would present Stoudemire with an interesting opportunity to play behind Noah and Kristaps Porzingis, since he has the versatility to play power forward and center.
