Allen Iverson Once Sent Ball Boy to Buy $2,000 Worth of Beer, Ended Up 4 Cases

Allen Iverson has no idea how much beer costs. 

That might not be true, but that's the one thing we took from the crazy story of the former 76ers star sending a ball boy out to buy $2,000 worth of beer. 

Through it all, the story Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix relayed to Mark Bechtel has us thinking A.I. was far easier going than we gave him credit for. 

According to a video posted over at MLive, per Red's Army, Mannix was a ball boy back when the Sixers and Celtics battled in the 2002 playoffs. 



Philadelphia had just lost the series to the Celtics in Boston and Iverson wanted to make sure the bus was fully stocked for his dejected colleagues. 

To that end, he sent Mannix out armed with what he remembers to be about $2,000 and instructions to bring back as much Corona as possible. 

Now, that sounds like the start of a hilarious movie called "Beer Run." Perhaps we could get Jonah Hill to play Mannix.
