Al Thornton Headed to the Golden State Warriors and Expected to Clear Waivers

According to multiple sources, former Washington Wizards small-forward Al Thornton will be heading to the Golden State Warriors (pending the clearing of waivers).

The Warriors have stated that Thornton will add an inside, as well as an outside, presence to the Warriors.  He can provide an outside shot when needed.  Also, his length will strengthen the perimeter defense, and at times (when the Warriors choose to defend with a small line-up), he may also help their interior defense.

Although Thornton only averaged 8.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game while with the Wizards, he does bring along a 47 percent field goal percentage.

Marc Spears, Yahoo Sports, reports that the Warriors will only sign Thornton for the remainder of this season.

Thornton is expected to clear waivers and suit-up for the Warriors on Thursday, March 3rd.  This would possibly have him prepared in time for the Warriors game against the Boston Celtics on March 4th.
