Al-Farouq Aminu Injury: Updates on Trail Blazers Forward’s Calf and Return

Portland Trail Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu suffered a calf strain Tuesday in his team's game against the Phoenix Suns.

Aminu Removed Early with Strain Tuesday, Nov. 8 Mike Richman of the Oregonian first reported Aminu suffered an injury that forced him off the court. Casey Holdahl of the team's official site reported the issue was a calf strain, and the forward was doubtful to return.

Aminu only played four minutes, scoring two points before coming out.

It would be a difficult setback for the Trail Blazers if Aminu misses significant time because he helped fill the void left on the wing in 2015-16 after the team traded Nicolas Batum to the Charlotte Hornets.

Aminu averaged only 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest in 74 games for the Dallas Mavericks in 2014-15, but he assumed a larger role in Portland, posting 10.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last year. He entered Tuesday averaging 7.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in 2016-17.
