A Clipper Thanksgiving-Hopegiving

I admit to never really grasping the concept of Thanksgiving growing up. As a kid I knew it had something to do with the pilgrims and Indians eating together and, much more important to me, it meant no school! Age however brings wisdom however and as I grew older I can to understand that Thanksgiving meant football! So, I did what ever self-respecting man does on the final Thursday of November, I started making a habit of over-eating and spending the day in front of the TV! After getting tired of watching the Lions go 0 for Thanksgiving I just ended up over-eating and over-sleeping. To me, it was Thanks-for-a-Day-to-Over-Indulge Day. Now, I get it. I get why George Washington designated special days for a national thanksgiving. Why Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving as a national holiday to be celebrated the last Thursday in November. I get it and I appreciate it. So, it is with this new-found appreciation for a national day dedicated to giving thanks that I present not just my personal Clipper related thanks, but my hopes for the team as well.
