68 NBA Scouts Attend State Farm Classic College Basketball Showcase Event

Oh, to be an NBA scout in Chicago's United Center to witness the State Farm Champions Classic. This is the Woodstock of college basketball scouting: An event they'll be describing to their little scout grandchildren in about 40 years.

Just how many scouts have gathered in Chicago for Prospect-stock?



 

68 scouts. Yes, that's more than two scouts per NBA team. Word on the street is that the city of Seattle even sent a couple scouts to the game, just so they wouldn't feel left out.

That may sound like a few scouts too many, but consider the following:

- Four of the top five teams in America (No. 1 Kentucky, No. 2 Michigan State, No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Kansas) are in Chicago for the event. That kind of gathering of college talent doesn't happen every week.
- Andrew Wiggins
- One of these teams is coached by John Calipari, and at least 30 NBA scouts have been following Calipari's teams around since his days at Memphis.
- Julius Randle, Jabari Parker

Of the top 100 prospects on this year's DraftExpress list, a mind-boggling 18 play on these four teams.
