Every offseason there are a select number of organizations that go out and sign a free-agent to a mediocre contract, and he ends up producing much more for the team than his contract would show .

Last season the Orlando Magic signed forward Matt Barnes to a two year, $3.2 million contract, with the second year being a player option.

Barnes started in 58 games for Orlando, posting 8.8 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 1.7 APG on 48.7 percent shooting, while being assigned to defend the top athletes in the league during the regular season and the playoffs (making a mere $1.6 million that year).
