2010 NBA Draft: Raptors Get a Steal, Take Ed Davis

The Toronto Raptors announced with the 13th pick they will select Ed Davis from North California.

Nothing else happened on draft day, disappointing many. Many expected the Raptors to pull off a big trade dealing Hedo Turkoglu or Jose Calderon, or both, but it didn't happen.

So, what does this mean for the Raptors? Is it another indication that Chris Bosh is leaving, but will this be his replacement? Not necessarily. Bryan Colangelo said that he would take the best player available in the draft, and he certainly did that.

Ed Davis was projected to be gone by the 10th overall pick, but dropped to 13th and the Raptors jumped all over it.

How will this affect the Raptors? Let's look at the different scenarios.

With Chris Bosh

Raptors fans are hoping Chris Bosh will stay, and Ed Davis seems to think that way too. He said Bosh was his favorite player, and seems to be excited to play for Toronto.

With Bosh, Davis would come off the bench and the Raptors would likely play a three man rotation at the big, with Davis, Andrea Bargnani, and Bosh. This would be the best scenario for the Raptors immediately ...
