2009-10 NBA Awards Watch: Durant Gaining Steam in MVP Race

The NBA regular season is nearing its end, with most teams having about 25 games to go.

After that, teams will either be battling it out in the playoffs, or positioning themselves for the draft and the upcoming free agency bonanza. 

Could a reigning MVP be one of the players that actually changes teams this summer?

We'll see, but for now let's see where everybody stands for potential regular season awards as of today. 

Most Valuable Player

1. LeBron James (CLE)

LeBron keeps his spot atop the rankings, as his amazing season continues. 

As of Thursday afternoon, James is tied with Kevin Durant for the league lead in scoring (29.8 ppg), and also ranks sixth in the league in assists (8.5 apg). 

It's not inconceivable to imagine James one day leading the league in both categories for an entire season, becoming the first player to do so since Tiny Archibald in the 1972-73 season.
