NHL: 10 AHL Players Called Up Within a Week of Playing in the All-Star Game

J.T. Miller spoke to nhl.com Tuesday afternoon about his expected Tuesday night debut with the New York Rangers a day after his first promotion from the AHL’s Connecticut Whale. That promotion came on Monday, precisely one week following his participation in the 2013 AHL All-Star Game in Providence, RI.

Petr Mrazek, who started 2012-13 in the ECHL before moving up to the Grand Rapids Griffins at the end of October, should likewise be donning official NHL attire Tuesday. Whether the rookie goalie starts or plays the backup role for the Detroit Red Wings, it will put an official stamp on his Sunday summons from the AHL level.

Miller and Mrazek give this year’s AHL All-Star scroll 10 players out of 42 who were promoted to their parent clubs within a week of dispersing from the exhibition’s host site in Providence.

Between the conclusion of last Monday’s game and this past Sunday alone, eight AHL All-Stars have seen extramural NHL action. In four cases, they made their NHL debut.
