Regardless of a remarkable debut by newcomer Kevin Martin, the Houston Rockets fell to the Indiana Pacers 125-115 on Saturday night at the Toyota Center.
Martin scored 14 points, along with six rebounds, five assists, and three steals in his first game in Rockets' red while Aaron Brooks (26 PTS) and Luis Scola (25 PTS) led Houston in scoring in the home team’s 10-point loss.
“It was just a poor defensive effort on our part,” Houston head coach Rick Adelman told ESPN following Saturday’s loss. “It’s not about shots. I don’t care about that. We scored 115 points and had 28 assists and we didn't give ourselves a chance. We aren’t going to do anything if we don’t have more of a defensive habit toward the defensive end of the floor.”
With Martin appearing in his very first game as a Houston Rocket, some of his early shooting slump likely had to do with nervous anxiety as a new team member.
